Sri Lanka Journal of Theological Reflection (SLJTR)
Sri Lanka Journal of Theological Reflection (SLJTR) enfolds the thoughts, ideas and theology kindled by the people living in, migrated from or closely connected with the island called Sri Lanka.
While recognising the fact that we have not moved out of the habit of considering theological thought as an addition to the history of Western Christian missions, we launch SLJTR as a biannual publication of the Theological College of Lanka (TCL).
The idea of sharing theological thought arising from Sri Lanka had been in the thoughts of TCL for a long time. In 2003, when TCL celebrated its 40th anniversary, a magazine,
'Voice of the Street', was launched as a pre-runner to the TCL journal SLJTR. TCL will not boast about this journal as a supreme journal of Sri Lankan theology, but it is an attempt to provide a forum to foster theological thinking in Sri Lanka. Already a number of thoughts, books and serious thinking from the soil of Sri Lanka have emerged. Many thinkers from the Protestant and Roman Catholic traditions published scholarly works long before TCL thought about a theological journal.
SLJTR is the story of a people’s dynamic corporative response to the challenge of the Gospel of Christ and of life in the environment of Sri Lanka. We have discovered that Sri Lankan theology and Church have a history of their own.
By the launching of SLJTR we invite TCL past students and faculty members living in and out of Sri Lanka, and others who have lived in Sri Lanka and have experienced its warmth to be partakers of this journal in the days to come.

From the Editor.....
The Theological College of Lanka has been considering the necessity and the possibility of publishing a theological journal on a regular basis. The steps taken on the occasion of the 40th anniversary celebrations of the
College in 2003 to bring out a theological journal resulted in "Voice of the Street", which turned out to be more or less a magazine. In the light of the consideration given to the issues involved, we have decided to bring out a biannual (January-June, and July-December) journal entitled Sri Lanka Journal of Theological Reflection (SLJTR) from 2005.
SLJTR will be a forum for interaction between the theologies popularized in the
churches and the theologies formulated and advocated by the College in order
that Sri Lankan dialogical theologies may emerge.
